The holiday of love is just around the corner, and if you’re anything like the majority of society, you probably waited until the last minute to think about what you’re going to do for your sweetheart. And if you’re anything like the majority of society, you probably don’t have a million dollars to spend on fancy shmancy dinners or extra extra extra large Hershey’s Kisses. But have no fear, The Horizon Sun is here with two last-minute ideas that you can do for your Valentine without breaking the bank.

Looking for something sentimental and sweet that your friend, family member, or significant other will adore? This first idea requires the following: a jar, some paper, scissors, and a writing utensil. That’s all! Use the scissors and writing utensil to cut up the paper into little pieces and write short messages on them. These messages can be anything you want: what you like about them, jokes, memories, song lyrics, even little pictures; the possibilities are endless. When you’re done writing on a piece of paper, fold it up and place it in the jar. Once you’re finished with all of your messages, put the lid on the jar and you’re ready to go! Your gift-receiver will be able to enjoy a cute surprise that reminds them of your care, every time they read a little piece of paper.

Now if you’re searching for something fun for you and your lovebug to do on Valentine’s Day, here’s a cool idea that will also keep your wallet safe: turn the back of your car into a movie theater! It’s much easier than it sounds. This idea works best with big cars (seat about seven to eight people). Once you have a car, the rest is a piece of cake.

Put the middle and back rows of seats down so that the surface is flat. Next, fill this space with lots of cozy pillows and blankets to ensure maximum comfort. Finally, throw in some popcorn and a laptop with their favorite movies ready to be played, and you’ve got yourself a homemade movie theater! If you want to get creative with it and really emphasize that Valentine’s Day spirit, don’t forget to decorate! With red and pink paper, try cutting out some paper hearts to stick on the car windows or making paper chains to drape around the interior and/or exterior of the car. You’ll end up with a Valentine’s Day experience neither of you will ever forget!
