On Oct. 21 at 4 p.m., the Horizon Honors Middle School Volleyball B Team took on Bethany Christian.  The game was a very exciting one to watch, as both teams played hard and took the match to three sets. Due to excellent all around play, Horizon Honors was able to come back from a seven point deficit in the third set to claim the victory.

The first set began with the Eagles getting off to a hot start. Horizon Honors came out of the gate with an 11-5 lead to start the first set of the match, due to aces by seventh grader Liana Guillen and outstanding passes by the team. However, Bethany Christian battled back, and soon the score was very close, at 24-21 in favor of the Eagles. Horizon Honors was able to finish off their opponents and claim the first set by a score of 25-23.

The second set of the game turned out differently for Horizon Honors. In what was almost an exact opposite of the first set, the Eagles fell behind early, trailing 3-12. Eventually, Horizon Honors progressively started to get back into the game. They were able to push the score up to 9-16, but their late scoring would not be enough. The Eagles dropped the second set by a score of 16-25, by a margin of nine points.

The game went in to the third and final set, and was a nail-biter to the end. Horizon Honors started off slowly, like they did in the second set. However, the Eagles quickly tied the game at 7-7. Bethany Christian would go on to score seven consecutive points to claim the lead at 7-14.

Horizon Honors made a comeback, led by great serves by eighth grader Anna Cochrane and amazing teamwork. This comeback by the Eagles gave them the victory in the set and the game by a score of 16-14.

The team’s victory over Bethany Christian also marked the end of their season. Over the course of the season, the girls went undefeated, winning all ten of their games. Congratulations to the Middle School Volleyball B Team on a perfect season!
