Practicing All Summer Long

If you’re into sports, a great way to stay active is by joining a summer league hosted by Horizon Honors.

This summer, Horizon Honors is offering summer sports leagues to all incoming and rising high school students. Joining a summer league is a great way to stay active and meet new people, as well as try out a new sport. The leagues consist of girls’ volleyball and basketball for girls and boys, while soccer, baseball, and softball are all still being looked into.

Girls’ basketball will be held throughout the month of June. JV girls play on Monday nights, while varsity girls play on Wednesday nights. Some of the varsity girls will also be playing in weekend tournaments. Girls’ basketball coaches, Abby Cardenas and Nate Agostini, assure that all girls will get playing time and encourage anyone to join.

The boys’ basketball summer league also takes place in June. Led by varsity coach Stephen Currier, this summer league has games throughout the whole week, including Saturdays. JV and varsity boys will play different teams in the month, helping them prepare for the upcoming season.

Girls’ volleyball will be playing through June. Both JV and varsity girls are participating in a league at Phoenix College with games on Tuesday nights. If you’re interested, you can talk to Coach Kristoffer Maglunog for more details.

Be sure to sign up as soon as possible, and for more information, please contact Horizon Honors’ Athletic Director, Nate Agostini.
