Horizon Honors’ baseball team will play start off their season next week. Last season, the team was 11-7 and made it to the first round of playoffs. They hope this season will go even better. The team has been practicing hard and are ready to compete.

The Horizon Sun: What do you think will be the team’s strengths?

Dylan Hickey, Sophomore: “Hitting. I definitely think we will hit well this season.”

Chris Hernandez, Sophomore: “I definitely think we will do well with hitting and pitching.”

Trey Faulkner, Freshman: “Honestly, probably our defense.”

Adam Mendoza, Sophomore: “It’s definitely gonna be our hitting.”

Blake Benefiel, Sophomore: “It will definitely be our fielding.”

Ben Deming, Sophomore: “I think it’ll probably be our hitting.”

Brett Hogan, Sophomore: “We will definitely hit really well this season.”

The Sun: What are you most excited for this season?

DH: “I am most excited to play in the tournament next week.”

CH: “Probably the bus rides. Those are always really fun.”

TF: “Being able to play the sport I love.”

AM: “I’m most excited to be actually playing in the games.”

BB: “I am very excited for our bus rides, they’re always fun.”

BD: “Playing baseball with my friends from school.”

BH: “I’m probably most excited to win.”

The Sun: What do you like most about being a part of the Horizon Baseball team?

DH: “Just doing what I love for my school.”

CH: “I love playing baseball with my friends.”

TF: “Just playing baseball with my friends is fun and I really love the school.”

AM: “I really like being able to hang out with my friends.”

BB: “I love the people on my team.”

BD: “Playing with my friends for my school.”

BH: “Playing with my friends is probably the best part.”

The Sun: How long have you been playing baseball and what position?

DH: “Pretty much since I was born and I play second base.”

CH: “Ever since I was a little kid and I play first base.”

TF: “Probably since I was 5 years old and I play left and center.”

AM: “I have been playing since I was 4. I play center and second.”

BB: “ I have been playing ever since I was 2 and I play middle infield.”

BD: “I have been playing baseball ever since I can remember and I have always been catcher.”

BH: “I have been playing for 10 years and second base.”
