Seniors’ Student Council Stories

As the 2016-2017 school year comes to an end, the Horizon Honors’ seniors who are on student council look back and share some great memories.

Kylee Golden, Editor of Sports

The seniors on student council gave advice to future students interested in participating to come and also talked about some of the best moments during their time at Horizon Honors.

The Horizon Sun: What is your position in student council?

Joey Vitagliano, senior: Senior class president.

Giuliana Castronova, senior: I am the senior class vice president.

Zane Greenwalt, senior: I am the student body vice president.

Tiana Oster, senior: Senior class representative.

Cali Lientz, senior: I am the student body president.

The Sun: What is your favorite memory during your time on the student council?

JV: This has been a really fun year. Everything has been great but I think prom will be the highlight since I am also the president of the prom committee. It has kind of been like my brain child. That being said, a lot of people have been working on it. I actually did a very small part.

GC: I really liked the bonding trip at the beginning of the year because you really got to get to know each other a little bit better. But of course, when you go to a dance and see everyone together, it is a really good feeling to know that you have been working really hard for it to all come together.

ZG: I think our group building activity in the beginning of the year.

TO: I would say planning prom and it all coming together and the all the other big events.

CL: The friendships that I have made while I have been on student council.

The Sun: What will you miss most as you leave the Horizon Honors Student Council?

JV: Definitely the people and being able to cultivate the leadership skills.

ZG: I will really miss setting up for the dances with everyone.

The Sun: If you could give one piece of advice to anyone thinking about joining student council what would you say?

JV: Just do it! Just get out there and do it!

GC: Know that it is going to be a big time commitment, but if you really want to do it and if you are really passionate about it, then you will really enjoy it. The application is really important and you need to actually put effort into it.

ZG: Make sure you are interested in the needs of others before yourself because that will be really important.

TO: Just go for it, because even though it is a lot of work, it is totally worth it.

CL: Just do it because you won’t regret it. Be sure to put all your effort into it.

We will miss all of the caring seniors on the Horizon Honors Student Council who have put in all their time and hard work. We hope the best for them after high school and appreciate all that they have done for our school.
