Key Club Comes to Horizon Honors
Key Club is a new student-led organization that teaches students the importance of leadership through volunteering. One of our own members of The Horizon Sun, senior Anja Asato, is the president and founder of Key Club. Junior Max Bussey is vice president, senior Jillian Whitson is secretary, senior Lauren Farrow is treasurer, and senior Gabrielle Peterson is the editor. As treasurer, Farrow’s job includes managing all the funds for the fundraisers and signing off for everything the club spends money for. Petersen’s job is to make the emails and proposals for announcements and activities.
The officers will attend a training session on Saturday with other Key Clubs to prepare for the year. The officers of Key Club are extremely excited for the service opportunities they hope to bring to Horizon Honors. They are currently planning the first Key Club activity which will include working with the National Honor Society to conduct peer tutoring.
Key Club is still recruiting. If you’re looking to join, contact the advisor, David Vitagliano, or Asato, or just attend one of the meetings and sign up, which are on Mondays during lunch.
When Natori graduates, she plans on going to an out of state college. She was born on the east coast, so preferably somewhere there. When Natori finishes college she wishes to be a veterinarian, but could possibly also have a career in journalism too. Natori hopes to make a difference in the world by paying it forward. She is not sure how to do it just yet, but she knows the day will come.
