Food Finds: La Grande Orange
November 1, 2013
Brunch has always been my favorite meal. I typically don’t eat breakfast, so on the weekends I love going out to try a breakfast sandwich, pancakes, or other baked treat. A few weekends ago, I visited La Grande Orange with my family, and I can definitely say it is my new favorite spot for brunch. It is a grocery store, pizzeria, and bake shop all in one and serves up delicious food that is all natural and handmade right in their store.
The restaurant has a main dining space, as well as an outdoor dining area. In the grocery area, you can order breakfast, lunch, and baked goods. Pizzas can be ordered from the pizzeria inside, and groceries and knick-knacks are available for purchase. It was very crowded, but I didn’t have a problem getting a table or ordering.
I tried a sandwich called “The Commuter.” The sandwich is served on their classic english muffin with eggs, tomato, cheese, and your choice of meat and avocado. This english muffin was fantastic and I highly recommend trying one even if you aren’t normally a fan. They are soft, chewy, and complemented the eggs and avocado perfectly. I chose to try the sandwich with provolone cheese and bacon.
It’s a drive out to La Grande Orange, which is located off of Camelback and 40th Street, but it is well worth the trip. I can’t wait to go back to try some of the cupcakes I saw in the display and one of their salads.
