Kalyn McLeod, Campus Life Editor
Kalyn McLeod is currently a ninth grader at Horizon Honors Secondary School. This is her third year in Journalism, and first year as an editor. Some of McLeod’s passions include running, painting, and competitive swimming. When McLeod is not participating in physical activities, she loves to volunteer in her community. She enjoys volunteering so much, in fact, that in grade five she started the Elementary Service Club at Horizon. Currently, McLeod is President of her National Charity League (NCL) class, which allows her to volunteer with other girls her age and learn many life skills. McLeod hopes to apply these skills to her future endeavors. McLeod wishes to go to Northern Arizona University after graduating. At this time, her career ambition is to major in biology and animal behavior and hopes to become an animal emergency medical technician (animal EMT). Animal EMTs work to rescue animals in danger and get them to safety. This can vary from rescuing a dog from a canal to saving animals from severe animal cruelty cases. McLeod’s love for animals comes from her dog Skye, a three-year-old Australian Labradoodle and her best friend. McLeod’s favorite thing to do after a long day of rigorous honors classes is cuddle with Skye. She is excited for many adventures in the future and is ready to take on any challenges that come at her.
