Horizon Honors’ is starting a scholarship fund to carry on the legacy of its’ founder, Larry Pieratt. Pieratt opened Horizon Honors in 1996 in hopes of creating a gifted education program for students of all ages, regardless of ability or aptitude. To him, Horizon was a place that would inspire students to get involved, improve their leadership ability, and give them crucial skills by placing them in real-life situations.

A scholarship fundraiser event will be held at the Foothills Golf Course on Feb. 22 at 5:30 pm. The event is open to all adults, and the cost of admission is $30 per person. It is recommended to buy tickets in advance. The scholarship amount will be determined by the success of the fundraiser event. The event involves an Italian dinner, entertainment, and a cash bar.

If unable to attend the event, members of the Horizon Honors community are encouraged to donate to the fund at https://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/AuctionHome.action?vhost=hclc.

An application will be available on March 1 for graduating seniors hoping to further their education and the deadline for submission is April 1. Scholarship recipients will be announced on May 1. Recipients will be chosen based on Mr. Pieratt’s vision of creativity, leadership, and values.
