On Sunday, May 19, musicians from every genre were honored for their efforts and accomplishments during the Billboard Music Award Ceremony, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, hosted by Tracy Morgan. Musicians and music lovers alike look forward to the annual event. This year’s winners are as follows:

Billboard was founded as a bill posting magazine in 1894, but began covering music charts in the 1930s with the invention of the jukebox. In 1970, Billboard began hosting radio countdown shows of the top 40 songs of the week. In 1989, Billboard took on hosting its own awards; unlike other awards which are granted based on votes (The Grammys are awarded based on votes from members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States), the Billboard awards are based on data from sales, downloads, and total airplay.
