Horizon Honors received 0.50 inches of rain on Sept. 9, causing major flooding in the area. The rain started off lightly on Monday and it rained softly for about three hours. The amount of rain started to increase during sixth period, around 9:30 am. An unplanned fire alarm went off halfway through class, forcing students out into the downpour. However, only a few classes were subjected to the rain, as the alarm stopped and school administrators ushered the students indoors. Unfortunately, the classes that exited the building before they received the memo were completely soaked. The end of sixth period did not see the end of rain and students were corralled inside for lunch.

The weather did not let up after until the end of the school day, and by then, there was flooding all over campus. Even though the rain stopped, there were still many clouds looming on the horizon, which seemed to promise more rain later that night. Despite this, the clouds did pass on and left Horizon Honors to recover from the extreme weather it had suffered earlier. The weather forecast said that it would rain from Sunday to Tuesday, meaning a solid three days of rain.

The maintenance team that was putting the tarps up was “concerned about the amount of rain we were getting.”
