Concerts in the Desert Foothills Park

Clarissa Smith, Columnist

Music brings people together, and many flock to events at the Desert Foothills Park for just that reason. The concerts boast incredible local performers, food trucks, and activities, so this is a great way to hang out with friends and family this spring.

The concerts start at 5 p.m. and go to 8:30 p.m. on Sundays. The musicians are often underground artists, giving viewers a new band to get into “before they were cool.” There is wide diversity in the music performed, ranging from jazz, to pop, to the occasional blues. So far this year The Kings of Soul have performed, and future performances will feature Real Thing, ‘Lil Debbie Band, and Crosstown Players, according to Meetup.

Besides the draw of the music, people also take this opportunity to spend time with their families outside and have a picnic. Guests can bring chairs, mats, and sometimes whole canopies. You can invite your friends, eat dinner, listen to music, and dance. Even if you have no food to bring, there food trucks parked in the area are a great option to satisfy your hunger. The kinds of food trucks there often serve Mexican cuisine, sweets, and beverages.

To have some fun with your friends, you can bring outdoor games like cornhole, jenga, badmitten, etc. Some bring sports equipment like basketballs, volleyballs, footballs, soccer balls, and lacrosse sticks and play in their respective areas, which is the perfect way to meet new people and participate in local community.

The concerts in the park are a great way to connect with loved ones and new faces. It’s important to get outside and play around, and this is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the nice weather. No matter your interest, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
