Some Pretty Rad Dishes

Kalyn McLeod, Editor in Chief

I have always loved to cook. As I got older, I wanted to try and make new dishes and use new techniques. The problem was, I had trouble choosing what to make and what recipe to use. I wasn’t sure if I had the right tools to not burn down the kitchen for some recipes, and I had to double check my refrigerator and pantry to make sure I had everything I needed if I wanted to cook a recipe at all.

Then, I discovered Raddish Kids. Every month, I receive a Raddish box and renew my subscription on a yearly cycle. The official Raddish Kids website explains how each box includes projects, collectibles, culinary skill lessons, a grocery list, and three different recipes.  The boxes include everything you need to create a dish, besides the ingredients. Most boxes have some sort of theme as well. Typically, the themes are based on a season, holiday, or country. Plus, the kits never repeat, so there is always something new to try. I get to sample traditional cuisine from all around the world, as well as fresh twists on classic dishes. The recipe cards are easy to follow, making it perfect for young chefs. Each dish is absolutely delicious.

Some of my favorite dishes are Swedish meatballs, ice-cream cream puffs, coconut shrimp, and pineapple upside-down cake. Each is a classic dish, but Raddish always puts a twist on it. It allows me to mix things up, and add my own style to these meals. For example, chocolate-dipped ice cream cream puffs were one of the first recipes I made with Raddish. It was already different from a traditional cream puff, because it uses ice cream. But the recipe was simple enough that it allowed me to play with ingredients. I added cinnamon to the pâte à choux dough, and layered the cream puffs with apple slices and caramel ice cream. Frankly, it was good, and I had made it myself.

I have received these boxes for a couple of years now, and I absolutely love it! I would 100 percent recommend this subscription for any young and creative culinary mind. With a subscription, you have easy access to every recipe. To join, go to the website provided above. Happy cooking!
