DIYs to Reuse Plastic

The world is becoming a plastic waste dump, but by reusing plastic you can help the planet thrive.

Materials:

  1. Popsicle sticks
  2. Tape
  3. Plastic grocery bag

Instructions:

  1. Cut out a piece of the bag in the shape of a triangle (as large as needed)                 
  2. Tape or hot glue the corners of the plastic triangle onto the popsicle sticks.
  3. Mount the popsicle sticks in dirt near a strawberry with the plastic a couple of inches above the ground.
  4. Lay strawberries in the piece of plastic to keep it off the ground away from bugs and to help it ripen faster.

Rainbow Design Bags

Materials:

  1. One reusable bag
  2. Colored straws (As many as you want, preferably one of each color)
  3. Clothing iron
  4. Parchment paper
  5. Plastic caps

Instructions:

  1. Cut all the straws to 1 cm.
  2. Place them into your given shape and place parchment paper on top.
  3. Iron.
  4. Take the caps and place them into your shape.
  5. Place parchment paper on top.
  6. Iron.
  7. Keep making designs until you love how your bag looks.

Pencil cups (see example in picture above)

Materials:

  1. Two clear plastic water bottles
  2. Zipper 
  3. Hot glue gun
  4. Paint, color of your choice

Instructions:

  1. Cut both bottles in half.
  2. Take the bottom sides of the bottles and paint them, put the top halves aside.
  3. Hot glue the zipper over the cut.
  4. Store pencils, markers and other supplies.
