CNN states that after eight years of absence, Jon Stewart has returned to “The Daily Show,” a comedic news platform with a team that talks about the biggest headlines with jokes to lighten the mood. Many fans are ecstatic about this, though some people have shared negative responses to his return.
Turning back to the show’s former host of 16 years after more than a year of thumb-twiddling since successor Trevor Noah signed off doesn’t appear risk-taking or bold, some argue, according to CNN. However, it makes more sense because of the election this year, as Stewart has the talent to entertain and charm the audience during the high-stakes election process. He said, “I very much wanted to have some place to unload thoughts as we get into this election season,” during an appearance on “CBS Mornings” on Monday, Feb. 12. According to CNN, during his final episode in 2015 Stewart spoke about “the talent that has passed through these doors.”
Stewart is known to be comedic while providing news about the world. Many younger viewers started using him as their primary source of news, according to Rolling Stone. Time will tell what Stewart’s return means for “The Daily Show,” but he is sure to bring a sense of humor to the insanity of American politics.
