Donald Trump claimed victory in the 2024 Presidential Election securing a grand total of 312 electoral votes, while Kamala Harris received an underwhelming 226. It was a disappointing defeat for the Democrats, but Harris is still determined to continue her dedication and goals for the country. However, first the Harris Campaign needs to settle their debt, so they’ve been sending out requests for donations.
The Harris campaign kick-started in early August, after President Biden stepped down from the race due his “obligation to his country” according to The Guardian. The Harris campaign raised and spent about $1.5 billion as the Democratic nominee, but now the Harris Campaign faces a whopping $20 million in debt, according to The Washington Examiner. The campaign denied striking debts as of election day and stated that they would not report owed debts due to the Federal Election Commission. Yet, the campaign spent millions on private jets, celebrity appearances like Oprah Winfrey, and interviews, along with substantial donations to several foundations, including $500,000 to the National Action Profit Network.
Democrat supporters have given irritated remarks about the repeated requests for donations. The numerous requests asking for money after a huge loss quickly erodes their trust for Harris. “Getting fundraising requests after any candidate has lost, when they admit that they are still millions of dollars in debt, having blown through over a billion dollars… is especially galling,” stated by Democratic strategist Jon Reinlish. As reports flooded about the campaign being in debt, Trump took the big window of opportunity, and trolled Harris on social media, calling MAGA supporters to help them in whatever way they can. Trump later posted on X that he was very surprised by the Democrats, who yet fought a valiant fight in 2020, and raised a record breaking amount of money, didn’t have a lot of “$” left, according to FOX News.
As a whole, The Harris Campaign continue to deprive themselves of this outstanding debt, to hopefully execute their next move in this historic fight.
