The Eagles began their game against Skyline High School serving. In just a few minutes, junior Christopher Trejo guided the team into a ten to zero lead with his many aces against Skyline’s poor passing. Soon enough, Skyline stopped Trejo’s serves and, suddenly, their coach’s words really had an effect on their performance. The Wolves’ passes became more accurate and kills from Skyline were constantly hitting the floor, adding point after point to their scoreboard. The Eagles lost their lead halfway through the first set but worked hard to keep up with the score of the Wolves. In the end of the first set, the score was 28 to 26 in favor of the Eagles.

The second set began with Skyline serving. Their enthusiasm transferred into the second game and the points kept adding up. The Eagles gave a perfect effort and impressed Horizon Honors with their perseverance. While the second set saw a score of 18 to 25, with a win for Skyline, we are still very proud of our JV boys’ volleyball team.

Compared to the year before, which was the first season for boys’ volleyball, coach Kristoffer Maglunog has showed these boys how to work together and as a team put up a fight. Horizon Honors High School is pumped up to see how our boys will do throughout the season.

Make sure to come support the Eagles next Thursday, Mar. 12, for their second game of the season!
