A-Team Victory Against Patriots

The Eagles bring home another victory against the Patriots on Monday, Apr. 13, at 6 p.m.

Our middle school boys basketball A team brought back a win this past Monday in their game against the Grace Community Christian Patriots. The game took place on Monday, Apr. 13, at 6 p.m. in our own home court.

Enthusiastic fans filled the stands as the game started off great for the Eagles. Eighth grader Cameron Taradash got a rebound, followed by eighth grader Mason Harbertson scoring a basket. The Patriots later made a free throw bringing the score to two to one. Eighth grader Stephen McCollum scored a basket as well did the Patriots. With the score at a tie, the Eagles were on a roll! Harbertson had multiple rebounds, one basket, and one free throw. Both eighth graders Andre Nguyen and Gabriel Knippers scored a basket. The patriots then scored a three-pointer, bringing the score to 15 to seven with the Eagles in the lead. Harbertson and Knippers both scored a basket, raising the score to 19 to seven. With seven minutes left in the game and many rebounds later, Nguyen scored a free throw and later scored a basket. The Patriots then scored two three-pointers, and Nguyen made another free throw, ending the half with a score of 23 to 13.

The Eagles came back second half dominating on the court. Taradash and McCollum both made baskets, and McCollum also made a free throw. The Patriots then scored, and the Eagles were up by 13 points. The boys had many close shots and great communication throughout the game. Harbertson made another basket and one free throw. Nguyen stole the ball and made a shot, bringing the score to 33 to 15 in the Eagle’s favor. Harbertson once again made a shot, followed by the Patriots making another 3 pointer.With 12 minutes left in the second half, Taradash and Nguyen both made a basket. The Patriots attempted to make a comeback, but it didn’t last long. Knippers got a rebound and made a shot, followed by Harbertson also making a shot. The score was 43 to 22, and with only six minutes left in the game, Knippers made a great shot. The Patriots made a free throw and afterwards McCollum scored a basket. Now with one minute left on the clock, eighth grader Hargun Sachdev made a basket. The game ended with the Patriots making one free throw 15 seconds before the end of the game.

The boys won their game with a score of 49 to 26, making their record five wins to only two losses. Come show your support at their next game against Gilbert Christian at home on Thursday, Apr. 16, at 6 p.m.
