Amiyah Owens is a seventh grader at Horizon Honors, and this is her first year in Journalism. She has an interest in Journalism because she enjoys reading, writing, and photography. Owens’ favorite hobbies include baking, drawing, playing basketball, swimming, reading, and making art. She is excited to learn and understand more about Journalism. She wants to have a future in baking, and loves making her own recipes. Owens enjoys listening to music because it calms her down. Owens is excited for the photography in Journalism because she loves taking pictures. She has been playing basketball for 3 years, both competitive and as a hobby. She also has an interest in Astronomy, and looks forward to being an astronomist. She wants to be a Mathematician for NASA when she grows up, because she finds the sciences of outer space fascinating. She also found her interest in Astronomy while taking an online college class for Astronomy and she found it interesting, she also found an interest for it in science class when she was 9 years old. She discovered her love of writing by adding to her daily journal. From there, she continued to write her first story and some songs. Amiyah found her passion for baking when she always was forced to cook with her Grandpa and help make dinner. This made her start to enjoy cooking and baking. Amiyah Owens is excited to do Journalism, while she enjoys baking, drawing, photography, playing basketball, swimming, and Astronomy.
