Mother’s Day Masterpieces
Homemade crafts are the perfect Mother’s Day gifts, because they are made by you.

Mother’s Day is the perfect time to show your mother just how much you love and appreciate her. However, finding the perfect gift can be difficult. Some mothers will be satisfied with a gift card to their favorite store, while others prefer something that you made yourself. My mom has always opted for something homemade, such as a craft or a heartfelt card. Here are just a few DIY crafts that your mother is sure to love, simply because you spent time and effort into making these gifts.
Vibrant Vase
Materials:
- Vase or pot of any size
- Different colors of paper
- Mod Podge
Directions:
- Cut the paper into random shapes. It doesn’t have to perfect, and the sizes will vary.
- Slather Mod Podge on the paper, and place it on the vase. (If Mod Podge isn’t sticking well to the vase, a glue stick will work just fine) Continue doing this with each piece of paper until the vase is covered in a variety of colors.
- Finish off the vase with a coat of Mod Podge over the entire thing. Mod Podge is a sealer and finisher, so it will make your vase look shiny and clean.
- Allow it to dry before presenting it to your mother.
“Things I Love About You”
Materials:
- Clean jar
- Decorations (stickers, ribbon, etc)
- Pen and paper (or computer and printer if you choose to type)
Directions:
- Take the jar and decorate it however you please. You can use the Mod Podge trick above or even use stickers or ribbons to make the jar look nice.
- Next, write down everything that you love about your mother on pieces of paper. You can make it handwritten, or type it and print it out. Cut out each piece of paper.
- Fold each paper and place them in the jar. If you want to be fancy, make a label that says “Things I Love About You” and plaster it on the front of the jar.
Printed Canvas
Materials:
- White canvas
- Paint
- People
- Pen or marker
Directions:
- Dip the hands of everyone in your family in paint. Carefully place their hands on the canvas to make a handprint. (This works especially well if you have little siblings with tiny hands!)
- You can make the prints in a design, such as a heart or spelling out a word by arranging the prints strategically.
- Don’t forget to write a special message on the canvas for your mother!
