Everyone dislikes McDonald’s for being unhealthy, but if someone is getting fast food, chances are that they’re not looking for something healthy, but something that is quick and cost effective. Many people blame obesity on fast food restaurants, but that isn’t completely fair.

In 1955, Ray Kroc opened the first McDonald’s and that year they served approximately one million people. About 55 years later, in 2010, McDonald’s was serving almost 247 million people. 27 million people eat McDonald’s every day in the United States alone, making the company the number one fast food chain in the country.

Personally, I think food from McDonald’s is satisfying. Their food is affordable for the majority of the public and their menu has an extensive variety, including about 145 items. The most popular item is the French Fries, which costs anywhere from $1.19 to $1.79. A normal cheeseburger from McDonald’s costs $1.29, while Burger King’s price for a normal whopper is $3.49.

Many people blame obesity on fast food restaurants, especially McDonald’s, but I believe it is the peoples’ fault, for making the decision to constantly buy food that is considered unhealthy. McDonald’s is not the cause of obesity- several factors play into this; so it doesn’t hurt to eat a Big Mac every once in a while.
