Jerimiah Simms, more commonly known as Wifiskeleton, was an emerging indie artist well known for his song “Nope your too late i already died”, which went incredibly viral. The success from the song combined with Simms’ latest release, “Pony” made it seem like Wifiskeleton was about to be one of the next big names in indie music. However, on May 5, 2025, he claimed he was going to commit suicide by overdoseing on drugs during a livestream. According to The Mirror, some of his close friends later confirmed on his record label’s Discord server that he tragically followed through.
Although the motive for his suicide is not currently known, many speculate it being because of certain accusations against him. Recently, there have been accusations made of inappropriate interactions with minors, however none are proven.
On May 10, 2025, Wifiskeleton’s Apple Music and Spotify accounts were hacked to release the single “Cinco de Mayo was a nightmare lol”, the title referencing the day he passed. About two thirds of the way through the song, the music stops and an AI generated voice very familiar to Wifiskeleton listeners begins. The voicebot is named “Kimberly”, and is used throughout his discography. The voice shows the situation from the perspective of Kimberly, apologizing for the things generated for his songs. Kimberly was often used to make audios making fun of or insulting Wifiskeleton. The voicebot also blames Wifiskeleton’s friend Icemop for Wifiskeleton’s death, saying that he heard the livestream and did nothing about it, but none of this information has been confirmed. The song was later deleted from those two major music platforms.
The death of Simms has affected many, from his fans to his friends, he will forever be remembered as a generational artist that held great potential.
