Senior Send-Off: Ready Enough

Our website administrator is graduating on Tuesday, May 26, but before he does, he closes his time with The Sun in his last article.

Marty Rhey, Website Administrator

Time is a very bizarre thing. Thinking of the future: a week, a month, a year from now, it seems so far away. But, thinking of the past, it feels like a rush. It’s like I didn’t have enough time for anything, like it went by too fast. Everyone says that time flies when you’re having fun, time flies when you grow up, it all came too fast. The truth is, no matter how long it felt, it will always be too fast.

The time feels like it passed too quickly because it did. There just wasn’t enough time to get ready. Not enough time to prepare for what the real world has to show. I’m not ready, none of my peers are ready. That’s just how the world works. You can’t wait to be ready. You can’t wait for the perfect situation to be gracefully handed to you on a silver platter. You can only be ready enough.

I have spend four years in Britt’s Journalism class, the same amount of time I’ve attended Horizon Honors. When I arrived, I had just come from a very small math and science-based charter school, so while I had a great academic background, I had virtually no confidence and didn’t feel comfortable around others. This school, collectively, has one of the kindest hearts of any community I have ever heard of. It has its problems, of course, but, overall, I wouldn’t have wanted my high school education anywhere else. You can’t be ready for life. You can only be ready enough. And thanks to the many people that have helped me along the way, I am ready enough.
