Bye, I’m Not Coming Back
Matt Butler’s senior letter.
May 29, 2018
BYE! HAHA, I get to leave early and not come back. Like shoot, I don’t even have to go to school, EVER AGAIN. Y’all will have to stay here for, like, up to five more years, that’s rough. But I am still going to school so catch me at MCC then transferring to ASU W.P. Carey after two years at MCC.
This year I decided to take journalism, just because I needed another elective. It has taught me so much by just constantly writing articles. Day in, day out, article after article. It’s a lot of writing, but it was fun. It has also improved my writing quite a bit, and that makes me happy. I can’t wait until next week when I’m done with school. Summer is going to be so fun, hanging out with friends and just relaxing. I’ve waited 13 years to be done with elementary and secondary school. This summer will be my time of relaxing. A few weeks ago I posed the question of what advice other seniors had for the rest of the students, but I never took the time to give my advice. Through my learning experiences I have learned a lot.
- Appreciate what you have because it is going to be much harder to have those luxuries.
- Spend time with your family; you’re not too cool for them so suck it up and hang out with them. They love you and would do anything to make you happy. It is possible that you might not see them that much after you graduate so enjoy the time you have with them now.
- Get your homework done. It will pile up and become this enormous amount. If you get too far behind it will hurt you in the long run.
- Enjoy your high school experience. Go to the dances, get in a little bit of trouble (not too much though), and hang out with your friends. If you form a tight bond with your friends, high school will be so much better. I can’t imagine going through high school without my group of friends, shout out to Rowdy and Co. Your friends will always be there for you and help you through the thick and thin of life.
- Life is crazy, school’s crazy. Just stay calm. Take a step back at times and keep on chugging. Enjoy school; it is truly the last time you will get to be a kid again so please, try to enjoy it and take some time look at the sunset and appreciate the flowers.
Thank you everyone that has helped me along the way. Here’s a quote to part ways with: “YOU LIKE THAT?!” -Kirk Cousins
