Fall Sports Sign-Up

As this year comes to a close, many students consider their opportunities for next year, including sports. Sports are a great way to show school spirit and get involved. In Arizona especially, weather is a big factor in which sports people choose to participate in, and fall is one of the best times to exercise outdoors because of the moderate temperatures.

When students come back from their summer break, they will have multiple different athletic options. For students in seventh through eighth grade, the school offers a co-ed soccer team, and girls in particular have volleyball as a choice. Both of these sports have dedicated and hard-working coaches that will help students to learn, grow, and have fun with the game. This school year for example, Coach Susan Sorel led the middle school soccer team to the championship game and Horizon Honors came out with the win. High schoolers have a couple additional options. In the fall, there is co-ed Cross Country, Swim and Dive, and Spiritline; volleyball is also a possible sport for the girls again.

The sports physical paperwork and handbook is already available in the front office for students that are interested. For students in middle school, the paperwork is due Wednesday, August 8, and tryouts begin Monday, August 13. High school paperwork is due on Wednesday, August 1, and tryouts begin Monday, August 6. Students are encouraged to go out for any sport that interests them; experience isn’t required, and Horizon provides a great learning environment for kids to be introduced to and have fun with many different types of athletics.
