Makeup can be challenging sometimes, but with the proper tricks, it can be a piece of cake. Here are just a few tips and tricks that are easy but effective.

  1. Big Eyes: If you wake up with red, puffy eyes, there is a simple trick that will make you look wide awake. All you have to do is line your waterline with white or beige eyeliner rather than a dark liner. This will make your eyes look large and alert. Black or brown eyeliner on the waterline will make eyes look considerably smaller, so you may want to apply dark colors to your lash line instead.

  2. Faking Falsies: If you have a big event coming up, you will want your lashes to look long and full. Mascara may not do the trick, but false eyelashes can be a pain. Luckily, there is a way to achieve long-looking eyelashes without using falsies. After you apply your mascara, dust baby powder over your lashes. Sweep on one more coat of mascara to complete this look. The mascara will stick to the baby powder, giving you gorgeous eyelashes.

  3. DIY Lipgloss: There are two ways to make lip gloss at home. One way is to crush eyeshadow and mix it with petroleum jelly. The other way is to melt a crayon on the stove, and combine it with coconut oil. Crayons are non-toxic and won’t hurt you. Coconut oil and petroleum jelly are both incredibly moisturizing and will hydrate your lips.

  4. Know Your Colors: The best eyeshadows for you will depend on your eye color. Some colors will really make your eye color pop, while others won’t look so great. Gold, brown, beige, and light blue look striking with blue eyes. If you have brown eyes, purple, peach, bronze, and even teal are all flattering. Green eyes look best with browns and purples. Hazel eyes look incredible with all shades of purple, because it will make the green flecks stand out, gray shadow will also look nice.

  5. For perfect winged eyeliner, tape will be your best friend. Apply a strip of tape extending from your lower lash line to the end of your eyebrow. Now you can draw a flick, and fill it in. The tape will ensure that both sides are even. If you don’t want to use tape, simply draw the flick first and fill it in.
