On Oct 7. 2025, during a livestream, American online streamer, influencer, and left-wing political commentator Hasan Piker, better known to viewers as HasanAbi, was accused of abusing his dog, Kaya, with a shock collar during a live stream.   

During the livestream, Piker told his dog to go lay down, where viewers noticed that Piker was grabbing down for something under his desk. According to Times of India, every time he did this, his dog would yelp and lie down again. Viewers later accused him of shocking his dog with a shock collar. Viewers noticed a strange collar on Kaya and believed that it was a shock collar.  

According to information from Yahoo, many of his viewers began calling him out for animal abuse which he then denied quickly. After the livestream, the over six million viewers on Twitch who had witnessed the incident began accusing him of hurting the dog. He was later asked about why he had a shock collar on the dog and to which he replied, “Yes, I am incredibly abusive, to the not only best trained, but also the best behaving and most spoiled dog on the planet”, said Piker, as stated by Yahoo. However, this reply was just him being sarcastic, as he later explains what exactly happened. 

Piker later stated that the collar Kaya was wearing is a vibration-only training collar with an air tag attached to it. He also claimed that the reason why Kaya let out a yelp is because she caught her dewclaw on the edge of her bed, not due to any electric stimulation, according to Times of India. 

People believed that Piker was telling the truth, but others are still skeptical about this claim. Some viewers zoomed in and believed that they saw a green light on the collar, suggesting that it was a shock collar. 

Hasan Piker still has over 3 million followers on Twitch but a few are deciding to unfollow him until further notice. A viral post on X reads: “Shock collaring that innocent dog for no reason just cause he wants to walk around? That’s not a prop for your stream background, that’s a living being”, quoted in Times of India. This post has become viral and viewers are still accusing him of pet abuse. 

Viewers have commented on his stream with offensive words, which has caused Piker to retaliate with words of his own, according to Daily Mail. The fight still continues on whether the collar is a shock collar or that it was just an accident.
