Ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 lb. hot italian sausage (or breakfast sausage)
  • 1 large onion, chopped finely
  • 2 large carrots, diced
  • 2-3 stalks celery, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 package seasoned stuffing
  • 1 package cornbread stuffing
  • 4 red apples, peeled, cored, and cubed
  • 1 cup walnuts (optional)
  • 1 pack of Hawaiian sweet rolls, ripped into small pieces
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  1. In a large saute pan, cook garlic, onion, celery, and carrots until tender (about 10 minutes).
  2. Add sausage and cook until done, breaking up the larger chunks. Take off heat and let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, mix seasoned stuffing, cornbread stuffing, walnuts, and apples. Add the sausage and sauteed vegetables.
  4. Add salt and pepper and slowly mix in the chicken broth until the mixture is moist but not soggy.
  5. Dress turkey and place remainder of the stuffing in a casserole dish.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes.

Whether you use the stuffing to dress the turkey or to make a yummy casserole, it puts a smile from ear to ear on everybody’s face.
