Students having phones in class is currently one of the biggest debates in the United States. There are many pros and cons to having phones in school to highlight, as well as my own opinion.
On one hand, there are many reasons to have phones in class. One reason is that phones can be important in case of emergencies. Students should be able to quickly access their phone to contact emergency services in case of something such as an allergic reaction or a lock down. Also, students can communicate with their parents and family way quicker. Also, they can play classroom games like Kahoot, Blooket, and Wordle if computers can not be used in the classroom.
On the other hand, there are many reasons why students shouldn’t have a phone in class. Kids could easily get addicted to their phones and could expect it too much. According to graduationprogram, classrooms should be a safe environment, and if phones are out in school cyber bullying could become a problem. Finally, kids already get their phone outside of school, so they could be on their phones too much.
To conclude, my personal opinion is that students should have some type of restriction in school, but maybe get it exclusively, like on Fridays. Kids have wanted this for a long time, however kids already get their cellphones at their house, so it is not very necessary.
Kids get their phones a lot at home, but phones could be viable in certain situations, and teachers already get to use their phones on breaks. So, kids should have an argument about having their phones in class as well. Both sides make very good points, and both have great reasons.
