Valentines, or Friendship day is a beloved holiday to spend time with the ones people care about the most, give out gifts like teddy bears or candy, or just have a chill day to relax. With the festivities on the horizon, I wondered what the student body wanted to spend the lovely day

The Horizon Sun: How would you spend the day?
Asher Richardson (8th Grade): “I’m going to hang out with my friends and probably play Schedule 1 and/or VR.”
Mateo Olmos (10th Grade): “Relaxing and no interactions with anyone.”
Gerri Darnell(10th Grade): “Begin relaxing and then hope to do something.”
Evan Baskin(10th Grade): “Just relax and play some games, and maybe play something with my GF”
The Sun: What’s your opinion on Friendship/Valentine day?
AR:I think it’s pretty good because it’s an excuse for gift giving.
MO: It’s mediocre at best.
GD: “When you have a significant other it’s fun and you love the holiday, if you don’t then you hate it. I like it, it’s just another day of gift giving.”
EB: “My opinion is that it is something to more so focus on the ones you love rather than the gifts and the candy/sweets, it’s something that you should be able to enjoy with those you love or can call yours.”
The Sun:What’s the best gift to receive?
AD: “Probably money.”
MO: “Candy, Money, Gifts and respect.”
GD: “Jewelry, if a female then items such as necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. For men probably just bracelets, I don’t know a lot of men that wear earrings or necklaces. Stuffed animals, home made stuff made with love, their favorite candy.”
EB: “The best gift to ever receive on that day is just love or affection, physical things don’t last forever, but a reminder that you’re loved is the best gift to receive, as it can last several lifetimes”
The Sun: What do you think it’s like to be someone’s valentine’s?
AD: “I think it’s a good feeling to see that someone appreciates you.”
MO: “No idea”
GD: “It gives a fuzzy feeling and makes someone feel loved. It makes you not hate the holiday.”
EB: “ I think it’s a reminder that you are loved/cared for as a person, and that I think that deep down, it makes you feel important and special to somebody, even if it’s just one person.”
The Sun: Will you be spending time alone or with someone?
AD: “ I will be by myself”
MO: “ I will be by myself like always”
GD: “I will be by myself like always. I hope to spend valentines with someone, but if I don’t it’s okay.”
EB: “I think I will be spending time with somebody I care for.”
No matter how you spend the day, whether it’s with someone you care about, or wanting to just be alone at home enjoying the peaceful day, It will always be a good day to remember to acknowledge the people you care about.
