On Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, the Horizon Honors Boys’ Soccer team played against Maricopa High School. The game began at 4 p.m. at the Maricopa High soccer field, with the Eagles hoping to continue their undefeated season.

Once the game began, there was not a dull moment on the field. Both teams were ready to play an intense game. The first point was scored by Maricopa, and then the second point was scored by Maricopa. With the clock running out and half time approaching, Junior Nick Valdez scored the first point for Horizon Honors. The final score at halftime was 3-1, with Maricopa in the lead.

The second half proved to be even more challenging, with neither team showing any signs of giving up. Eventually, Maricopa scored two more points before the clock ran out, leaving them with a 5-1 win, ending Horizon Honors’ undefeated streak. Horizon Honors’ next game will be on Friday, Dec. 13 against Gilbert Classical.
