Matlyn McShane

Matlyn McShane, Columnist

Matlyn McShane was born on Aug. 11, 2008, in Phoenix, Arizona where she still lives today. She transferred to Horizon Honors this year, and is in eighth grade. McShane lives with her mom, dad, brother, and cat, named Kitty, who is a brown and white tabby. McShane has many hobbies, including drawing, reading, writing, playing ukulele, and various arts and crafts. She joined Journalism because she has always been interested in reading articles, and figured it would be fun writing them as well. She is a member of the Travel Club, and her favorite subject is English. When she grows up, she wants to be a psychologist or a journalist. McShane takes English and Civics and Civic Engagement Honors, and enjoys learning about the government. McShane plans on going to college at NAU to study psychology. Her general interests are Minecraft, psychology, jellyfish, and antiques. She enjoys reading, and her favorite books are “The Glass Castle,” “The Silver Star,” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” Music is a large part of McShane’s life, and her favorite artists are Glass Animals, Dream Ivory, Strawberry Guy, Mac Demarco, CORPSE, and The Neighborhood. McShane enjoys watching shows such as “Adventure Time,” “The Amazing World of Gumball,” and “Saiki K.” She enjoys watching YouTubers and streamers such as Kurtis Conner, Tommyinnit, Ranboo, Tubbo, BoomerNA, and Dream. She is looking forward to getting to know people at Horizon Honors.
