Contribute to Kindness

Starting January 28th, Horizon is starting The Great Kindness Challenge. Kindness challenges aren’t a competition to see who can complete them the fastest; they have actual meaning. Telling someone they have a nice shirt without any real thought behind it is not improving anyone’s life. To give a proper compliment, you need meaningful expression and passion.

After all, kindness truly does make an impact. It boosts people’s confidence when you compliment their attire or look of the day. Most people act like they take kindness as a joke on the outside, but on the inside, are heavily impacted when they get a real compliment. This is why it’s important to show your kindness, even when you think someone may not want or need it. Through the Great Kindness Challenge students will “perform as many kind deeds as you can in one week.” This is all to focus on giving those compliments, helping your peers, and improving the environment around you. Most of these challenges don’t even take much time out of your day to do. These challenges consist of simple goals like smiling at 25 people, or even just making a new friend. Sure, blowing off these random acts of kindness is an easy thing to do, but the sense of good from making someone else’s day better far outweighs any sense of laziness or lethargy.

This week, the Kindness Crew is hosting specially-themed spirit days to spread kindness throughout the school.
