Homecoming is approaching soon, and there are so many details that need to be taken care of before it comes. Dress, makeup, pictures, tickets, and dinner reservations all contribute to making the night memorable. The last thing that I would want to think about is what hairstyle I want to do, since it’s so time consuming! If you are anything like me, you try to do fancy things to your hair, but it ends up looking like a squirrel died on top of your head. With that said, here are two tutorials that are easy enough for beginners to do, but look complex and elegant. The first works best for medium to long hair, and the second is perfect for short to medium hair.

Hairstyle #1: Classy Half-Up-Do

Step 1: Start by making a bump on the crown of your head. All you have to do is lift up sections of hair on the top of your head, and lightly tease it with a comb. Next, take the section below it and tease as well. You can do this as many times as you like, until the desired amount of volume is achieved. Flip the hair over, and pin it with bobby pins to make a bump.

Step 2: Next, do a small waterfall braid from the front of your face to the back of your head. This can be tricky, so you can either look up how to do it or just do a normal braid. Secure the braid with a bobby pin at the back of your head, and repeat with the other side.(If your hair is parted to the side, you may choose to only do one braid.)

Step 3: Take a section of your hair near the front of your face and pull it to the back of your head. It should overlap the bobby pins used to secure the bump. Take a section from the other side, and do the same thing. Continue doing this until all the hair near the front of your face is pulled back.

Step 4: Finally, curl your hair, and this look is complete!

Hairstyle #2: Braided Messy Bun

Step 1: Start with curled hair. Take a section of hair in the back of your head and put it in a low or medium ponytail secured with a clear rubber band. Wrap the hair around itself to create a loose, messy bun.

Step 2: Take the hair from one side, and french braid it from the front of your head to the back of your head. Wrap the hair loosely around the bun and secure it with bobby pins. Do this with the other side as well. If there is any hair left over, just braid it and wrap it in the bun.
