Tell your pooch you love them with a cake they can eat, too.

My dog had his second birthday recently, and he is truly a member of our family. So, we don’t skimp on the birthday celebrations. Skye gets spoiled rotten with toys, treats, and belly rubs! But at every birthday party, there’s also a sugary surprise. Most cakes are not safe for dogs, and treats are sometimes just not special enough. So here is a dog-friendly “cake” recipe that your furry friend will devour in seconds.

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ¼ cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit.
  2. Stir the flour, baking soda, baking powder, peanut butter, oil, applesauce, honey, and egg together.
  3. Line a 6-inch round cake pan with parchment paper or cooking oil.
  4. Pour mixture into pan, and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until it is a light brown color, and has risen.
  5. Beat heavy whipping cream until it forms stiff peaks.
  6. Put frosting on cake once it has cooled. Decorate with treats and dog safe fruits.

This cake will look so good even humans might want to eat it, but I would advise you not to. People may find it gross, but your dog will surely love it! This cake is awesome for any occasion, and your dog will appreciate all the effort.
