DIY Winter Memories

These DIY ornaments are easy to make with your family and friends, and only take about 15-20 minutes each.

The winter holidays are a special time of the year, from making delicious treats, to spending time with friends and family, as well as making traditions. Now you can make a new tradition with your family by making these cute DIY ornaments for Christmas.

Confetti Balls

Materials:

  • Plastic round ball ornament
  • Colorful cotton balls
  • Confetti
  • Stickers
  • Glitter paint
  • Additional decorations (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Open the top of the ornament and pour the confetti in (I recommend using a paper funnel).
  2. Put some cotton balls and additional decorations in the ornaments, then put the cap on and shake.
  3. Place the stickers on the ornament and then paint what you want on the outside. 
  4. Once dry, place on the tree.

The Five Snowmen

Materials:

  • Colored ornament ball
  • White paint
  • Orange and black sharpies
  • Festive ribbon
  • Colored construction paper and a note

Instructions:

  1. Paint the hand you are going to use white.
  2. Place the hand on the ornament getting every side.
  3. Wait until the paint is dry, then draw the hat, eyes, and smile on the snowman with the black sharpie and the scarf and nose with the orange sharpie.
  4. Add the maker and year made at the bottom with a sharpie.
  5. Take the construction paper and the note and glue them together, then hole punch the top right corner, thread the ribbon through and tie to the top of the ornament by the loop.
  6. Place on the tree

The note: 

“These aren’t just five snowman

As anyone can see.

I made them with my hand which is a part of me.

Now, each year when winter nears

You’ll look back and recall

December of (year) when my hand was just this small.”

Felt Santa

Materials: 

  • Peach, white, and red felt
  • Googly eyes
  • Mini red cotton ball
  • Scissors
  • Felt/Craft Glue

Instructions:

  1. Cut out a hand on peach felt
  2. Cut out fingers for the bear, Santa’s mustache, and the cotton balls with white felt.
  3. Cut out Santa’s hat with red felt.
  4. Glue on the beard on the peach felt.
  5. Glue on the hat, mustache, and cotton balls.
  6. Glue on the eyeballs and the red cotton ball for Santa’s nose.
  7. Once dry, place on the Christmas tree.

Felt Snowman

Materials:

  • White, green, black, brown, and orange felt
  • Black felt marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Felt or craft glue

Instructions:

  1. Cut out three different sized circles with white felt.
  2. Cut out a scarf with green felt.
  3. Cut out a hat and smile with black felt.
  4. Cut out arms with brown felt.
  5. Cut out a carrot nose with orange felt.
  6. Glue all of the things together to assemble a snowman.
  7. Glue on the googly eyes and draw the buttons on with the black felt marker.
  8. Once dry, place on your Christmas tree.

These ornaments are a great way to get into the holiday spirit and make something you’ll definitely love and use.
