Five Nights at Freddy’s is a beloved franchise among many who love the horror-strategy genre. In 2014, creator Scott Cawthon originally made Five Nights at Freddy’s not knowing its rise in popularity. The franchise has evolved in popularity in many ways with different varieties of fan projects, lore theorists and many merch makers emerging in the scene. In 2023, it received a movie adaptation that gained the attention of many.
In 2025, the movie got a sequel that introduced the toy and withered animatronics, along with the Puppet animatronic, to the film which excited many and brought the attention of fans. Some were wondering whether they should see the film, and this guide will explore the main points of the film and every new thing it brought, including some secret details.
The movie was overall a major step up from the first film and brought way more lore and action than the first film. First of all, they of course had the famous YouTube band, The Living Tombstone’s song “It’s Been So Long” played during the end credits like the first movie. Secondly, this film was much more terrifying than the first and had way more suspense and drama. If you pay attention to the scene of Mike (Josh Hutcherson), the main protagonist of the movie, fighting off the withered animatronics, you can see Shadow Bonnie before he turns on his flashlight.
The film starts off with a kid version of Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail), one of the main characters, and her friend Charlie (Audrey Lynn-Marie) waiting for The Puppet to arrive onstage and perform. As Charlie waits she notices a suspicious person in a yellow rabbit outfit take a child away in a room, luckily Charlie ends up saving the child as they escape from stage, but Charlie had to make the ultimate sacrifice as she was stabbed by the yellow rabbit to save the child and she ends up falling into the trap door where the puppet is, dying in its arms.
The rest of the film is a continuation from the first showing the events of the movie’s main protagonist, Mike and his little sister, Abby (Piper Rubio), as they try to move on to a new, normal life. However, Abby still has the desire to visit the old animatronics, and she travels to the location of the destroyed pizzeria hoping to see them again. This scene also brings a funny moment when Mike and Abby pretend to get prizes at a station, Mike finds a Freddy doll he places that plays the infamous FNAF beatbox meme made by Abdul Cisse. During this scene Abby also finds a communication signal device which she decides to take.
Abby ends up receiving a strange communication signal from the device, leading her to find another abandoned Freddy’s location as she then meets Toy Chica who deceives her into letting the animatronics and The Puppet to escape the pizzeria while Mike and Vannesa try to stop them. The movie also brings a shocking twist at the end revealing that Micheal Afton, the protagonist of the original game, was Vanessa’s brother, who was the antagonist of the movie planning to kill the entire town. Fortunately, his plans are foiled by the original animatronics who defeat the Toy Animatronics. The movie ends on a cliffhanger, with Vannesa getting possessed by the puppet, as well as a post credit scene with the reveal of springtrap and a possible teaser to a third film as well as a hidden voice line left by Henry Emily (Skeet Ulrich).
The cast of the movie also had an excellent performance with Hutcherson, Rubio, and Lail continuing a great performance as their respective characters, as well as some new roles doing an excellent job with people like Matthew Patrick, commonly known online as Matpat, as Toy Bonnie, Megan Fox as Toy Chica, and Kellen Goff as Toy Freddy.
The movie overall was a great experience and a huge step from the first, this movie had plenty more lore and was much more terrifying, it was definitely a tribute to dedicated fans of the franchise.
