Rockstar Games, the company behind the hugely successful “Grand Theft Auto” franchise, had an explosion occur at their North building. As for the development of their newest game, “Grand Theft Auto 6” (GTA 6), it is unknown if the explosion had any major effect, but it did raise concerns for future delays.
“GTA 6” is a long awaited game, with fans waiting 13 years since GTA 5’s release. “GTA 6” was originally supposed to be released in 2025, but it has been delayed so many times that it is now expected to release in November of 2026. Unfortunately, due to the explosion, there is a good chance that it will get delayed even more than it already has. Luckily, the explosion didn’t harm anyone. According to interestingenginnering,
the explosion occurred at 5:02 am, on January 19, 2026, with the specific cause reportedly being a boiler explosion. It’s very likely that this created structural problems for Rockstar Games’ North headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The only person in the world who got to play “GTA 6” early is a man who was battling cancer and got to play “GTA 6” 10 months ahead of the estimated release. The name of the man is unknown, but he got to play on Jan. 18, 2026. So he got to play before the explosion happened. He had six to twelve months left to live, and his dying wish was to play “GTA 6” early.
The explosion could or could not delay the development of the making of GTA 6. But as of right now, “GTA 6” will come out on Nov 19, 2026, but this can obviously be pushed back due to the explosion. “GTA 6”’s release is now unknown but at the earliest the game could come out is in November.
