How to Paint Your Valentine’s Day Nails

Erica Kendree, Columnist

With Valentine’s Day nearing, it’s fun to get into the spirit with creative nail art. There is a variety of colors and designs to choose from and you can incorporate your own personal style to enhance the look. Here, I’ll show you how to make two designs, one with pink heart and pink tips and another with white nail polish with a red XO and dot accents.

Supplies:

Nail Polish (white, red, and pink)

Toothpick or uncooked spaghetti noodle

Look 1: French with Hearts

Paint nails white and let dry.

Take the end of a spaghetti noodle or toothpick and dip in it pink nail polish. Then draw a heart on your ring fingers.

Take the end of the spaghetti noodle or toothpick and dip it in pink nail polish.  Paint the top of each nail like a french manicure. If you have trouble doing french tips, add scotch tape right under the part you want painted. Then fill the tip in with paint and remove tape.

Look 2: XOXO

Paint nails white and let dry.

Dip end of the spaghetti noodle or toothpick in red nail polish. Then press it down on each nail except the ring finger. Paint the dots diagonally. The paint will get lighter as the size of the dot gets smaller.

Dip the end of the spaghetti noodle or toothpick in red nail polish. Then write XO on the nails of your ring fingers.
