Stellar singer Taylor Swift debuted her latest video, “Bad Blood” at the Billboard Music Awards this past Sunday night. Leading up to the premiere, she’d been posting photos on social media that gave us hints of what to expect, May 10. She revealed photos of each person in the video, posing as their alter ego. Collaborator Kendrick Lamar was shown as ¨Welvin Da Great,¨ and it’s said that the whole song was originally his remix.

The song is presumed to be inspired by Swift’s feud with performer Katy Perry. Swift didn’t explicitly say her name, but she gave out many clues in interviews, making it obvious that both stars had a former quarrel. So far, Perry hasn’t left any comments towards the video.

Swift featured fellow stars and many of her closest friends to be in the video. Her all-girl army ranged from supermodels (Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldridge, and Martha Hunt) to singers (Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, and Haley Williams) to actresses (Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Alba, Lena Dunham, Serayah McNeill, and Zendaya Coleman). Cindy Crawford also made an appearance, as well as Swift’s favorite TV stars Ellen Pompeo from “Grey’s Anatomy” and Mariska Hargitay from “Law and Order: SVU”.

The plotline is one of Swift’s closest friends, Selena Gomez, posing as “Arsyn” the enemy, who goes to battle against Swift and her army. Gomez pushed Swift through a window, causing her to seek revenge. Throughout the video, Swift showcases each star with their warrior alter ego, all preparing for battle. The army of women join together to walk through a city burning up in flames, as they go to face-off Arsyn once again.
Each girl reflects nothing but power, especially Swift, and lets everyone know that they shouldn’t be messed with. Swift showcases that she not only has the right connections but also has a whole pack of powerful celebrities who will back her up. We saw another side of Swift in the video. Leather outfits and weapons is a big change from her girly dresses and guitar. Ultimately, this video proves that Swift is a force of nature who you don’t want to make enemies with.
