On Dec. 7, at 5:30 p.m., Horizon Honors’ girls’ varsity basketball competed against Glendale Prep in a home game.

The game was competitive, and a time-out was called a few moments into the quarter. The cheerleaders kept the crowd excited, and right after the time-out, Glendale scored a point on a free-throw. However, Horizon Honors quickly recovered and scored another two points. There were a several  baskets made by each team, and Horizon Honors was able to keep possession of the ball most of the time. By the end of the quarter, the score was 14-5 with Horizon Honors in the lead.

After the cheerleaders riled up the crowd again, the second quarter started with just as much excitement as the first. Freshman Pilar Rivera made a basket, and the crowd cheered with pride for their student, and the game carried on. By the end of the second quarter, Horizon Honors was winning, the score 28-14.

At halftime, the cheerleaders performed again, and the varsity boys warmed up afterward. After a few minutes, the third quarter took place. Horizon Honors scored a three-pointer. Glendale Prep made a few baskets on us, but our team was quick to defend and racked up another 10 points or so, leaving the third quarter score at 41-24. Glendale Prep had little hope to win, but there was still another quarter left.

As the last quarter starts, Horizon Honors was confident, however it began with Glendale Prep scoring a basket on our hoop. With the last quarter in Horizon Honors’ hands, it was no contest. The girls made another few baskets, leaving the final score at 51 to 29,  and Horizon Honors with the win.
