Homecoming 2016

On Saturday, Jan. 23, Horizon Honors’ students attended their 2016 homecoming. With girls and boys dressed in their formal wear, everyone rocked their personal looks.

People began arriving at around 7 p.m. when the annual homecoming dance was set to begin. Most people came with a group and soon everyone was dancing. A lot of songs were set to a fast beat, but there were also many slow dances, surprisingly, where the DJ encouraged the guys to ask a girl to dance. And so the majority did.

The theme of the night was “Around the World,” and the posters lining the walls illustrated this. Also, the tickets to get in was a “passport,” but besides that, the theme was not strong in the setting of the dance and did not serve a greater purpose.

In the entrance, water was offered to the students who needed something to cool them down. The dance ended at 11 p.m. with the song, which was requested by a student, “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira. After that, people left the dance, and most went to some place to eat.

On the whole, the dance was super fun. The DJ could have taken more suggestions from the students, but besides that all the events, like the dance battle and dancing together, were great.
