The Eagles Are Going on to the Final Four

Boys’ varsity volleyball successfully overcame another obstacle Mesquite. The Eagles won 3-2 in the gym at 6:30 p.m. on May 10.

The gym was buzzing with excitement when Mesquite High School served the first serve against Horizon Honors at 6:30 p.m. Mesquite took the early lead against Horizon Honors and continued it throughout the entire first set. Mesquite took the first set, but it was a hard-fought battle.

After some encouraging chants by Horizon Honors fans, the second set began. The Eagles had the first lead, and both teams traded the small lead throughout the set, but Horizon Honors won, tying one set to one.

At this point, Horizon Honors was hyped up to take this set, and more excitement from the crowd definitely helped out with that. Senior Wesley Jamison had some amazing digs that saved many points as well as lots of momentum for Horizon Honors. The Eagles very rarely were down in the set and won – now up two sets to one.

Both teams were experiencing a bit of fatigue, but the fans were still going strong. Horizon Honors was weak with a few good runs in the first half of the set. When Mesquite got to 18, it was too late and they took the set.

The fifth and final set was extremely exciting and fast paced. The crowds were insanely excited and hoped their respective team could prove victorious against their opponent. Sadly, that wasn’t going to happen for Mesquite fans. Horizon Honors made a quick and effective strike to start, and the score was 4-1 Horizon Honors. Mesquite tries to rally, but before they knew it, Horizon Honors was up 7-3. It was back and forth until Horizon Honors got to 12, putting them ahead just one point. Then, the Eagles finished strong with a score of 15-11.

Senior Jimmy Tsai commented that he was very excited for the next opponent. Junior Trevor Weary stated that he was very proud of his team and that now they just need to prepare for their next game.

In the end, the Eagles emerged the winner against Mesquite with a score of 3-2. The crowd was filled with satisfaction as they walked out the doors and enjoyed the rest of their evening.
