Horizon Honors’ pom team has qualified for the state championship after placing fifth overall in the state qualifier on Saturday, Nov. 14. The team now is preparing to go to the state championship, which will be held at the Grand Canyon University Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) State Championship will be held on Jan. 23, 2016.

For pom team coach Armani Hernandez, the girls are ready for the competition and have put in a lot of time and dedication in order to prepare for the competition. “Performing a routine with stunts, jumps, and tumbling is hard, and each athlete works hard to make their performance look easy,” said Hernandez. Coach Hernandez also says that the team has a great bond, and the girls are able to maintain a positive attitude and give encouragement to help each other through the frustrating times. “This group of athletes has come a long way since our season started in August, not only as individuals, but also as a whole. I am honored to be their coach and am proud of every single one of them,” said Hernandez. Be sure to support your Horizon Honors pom team before they head off to state!
