MS Basketball’s Lady Eagles Put Up Good Fight

Although Horizon Honors’ Middle School Girls’ Basketball team lost, they fought hard and had fun.

Middle School Girls’ Basketball played against Rancho Solano on Wednesday. Both teams performed excellently.

On Wednesday, March 5, Horizon Honors’ Middle School Girls’ Basketball team took on Rancho Solano. After both teams warmed up, the game began at 4:00 p.m.

It was slow moving at first with Horizon Honors behind Rancho Solano by one point with five minutes left in the first period. As the game picked up, so did the score of seven to eight. Rancho Solano made two baskets, which put the Eagles even further behind. Horizon Honors had possession of the ball, and was running full speed when a foul was called on the opposition. Horizon Honors made both free throws, which put the score at 11 to 12 with Rancho Solano in the lead. The period ended with Rancho Solano scoring three points, making the score 11 to 17 halfway through the game.

By the second period, it still wasn’t looking good for the Eagles. While Horizon Honors played great defense, Rancho Solano still continued to score. The score was 13 to 24 halfway through the second period with the Eagles still behind. Time was running out, and the score was 16 to 34 with five minutes left in the game. Three points scored by the Eagles had the crowd going wild; With one minute left, Horizon Honors managed to score one more basket. The final score was 18-38, with the visitors being the victors.

Although the Eagles lost, their season isn’t over. Their next game is on Tuesday, March 24, at 4:00 p.m. This game is also against Rancho Solano, so be sure not to miss it!
