Delicious bruschetta paired with homemade spaghetti.

Appetizers are a great way to elevate any meal, and one that stands out among the rest is bruschetta. Its rich tomato flavor and crunchy texture have made it a staple of classy and casual dinners alike, a fact that can be attributed to the plethora of fresh ingredients used in its creation. Fortunately for bruschetta enthusiasts, this delectable starter can be made in five simple steps.

Ingredients:

  • 3 fresh, large tomatoes
  • Sourdough bread
  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt and pepper
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp pesto
  • Avocado oil
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 provolone cheese slices

Materials:

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Spoon

Directions:

  1. Cut sourdough bread into six half-inch slices and lightly cover them with olive oil. Place onto a baking sheet and toast at 350° Fahrenheit until lightly golden.
  2. Spread pesto onto the toasted sourdough slices, cover with provolone and mozzarella cheese, and toast until cheese is completely melted.
  3. Dice the fresh tomatoes and place them in a bowl, then cover them in about 2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Add oregano, pepper, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder into the mixing bowl and stir.
  5. Using a spoon, place two scoops of the tomato mixture onto each slice of bread and enjoy!

This recipe makes three two-piece servings, but proportions can be adjusted accordingly. Buon appetito!
